A Week of English with Eleanor
A homestay week at a large family home in the countryside of Haute-Garonne, north of Toulouse, for French students aged 11 to 18.
Your child will stay with Eleanor and her bilingual family for a week, enjoying a truly immersive English experience. They'll be part of everyday family life — sharing meals, going food shopping, and taking part in activities both at home and out and about.
No child wants to feel like they're sitting in a classroom during their school holidays. True immersion goes far beyond classroom learning: it's a real-life learning experience, supported by an attentive and patient teacher.
Eleanor has been welcoming French students for English-immersion stays for the past four years, hosting students from both Paris and Toulouse. Having taught in the French collège system for three years, she understands how to motivate young learners and, most importantly, how to create a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
Eleanor and her family have been living in France since 2016. Her three children (aged 8 to 12) are all bilingual and English is the main language spoken at home. The family are very active and enjoy all sports, especially tennis, swimming and cycling. Evenings are often spent playing board games together. Cooking and baking are popular activities which students always love taking part in.
- Conversation-first, relaxed, and encouraging — the same teaching style Eleanor uses with all her students.
- Your child will practice speaking without being interrupted or corrected continuously.
- The goal is confidence in speaking English day to day, not textbook drilling.
Who's it for: French students aged 11–18 looking to build real confidence in spoken English.
- 10 hours of formal English lessons spread over 5 days.
- An English language test must be completed prior to the week to test the level of English.
- Eleanor will then tailor the lessons specifically to maximise the learning.
- Private bedroom in the family house.
- Three meals a day.
- Shared family bathroom.
- Hiking.
- Local markets.
- Water parks.
- An optional trip to Carcassonne (additional cost).
- Visiting local historic towns in the Tarn.
